Early in 2008, Mary and I started believing that God did not wish HIS office sold.  We talked about a coffee house, to open Memorial Day, where people could build new relationships with others.  We decided to have a soft opening in February and within a week or two we had a five or six small groups meeting there.  With this happening, we realized God was taking this a different direction.  We instead opened a non-profit community gathering place for small groups.  

I usually head out a direction and ask God to bless me and it.  This time I saw God take control and show me that He was working over here and in a different way.

This year we have seen a strong growing support in people getting involved and taking ownership of the Vision and Mission of the Gathering Place.  We have had many gifts of time and items like food, coffee pots, grills, supplies, outside patio furniture, dishes, dish washer, audio sound system, entrance ramp for physically impaired, outside slate patio, and a large flat screen TV with DVD player.

The daily focus is for us is to gather persons who do and do not know Jesus Christ, to build relationships with them, in order to care about them, and to share Jesus and disciple them to a point they can share the gospel with others.

We have been using all types of tools to interest persons in gathering.  They range from food (Sunday Pot Lucks) to small group studies on financial and communication difficulties.  We have men's continental breakfasts and ladies' crafts and interdenominational Bible study and prayer groups.

We have had other interdenominational ministries and church leaders join us on our board and have their activities at the Gathering Place.  These include Young Life, Wyld Life, Moms-In-Touch, Christian Life Ministries, CBMC, Lutheran-Cathlic Prayer group, The Little White Church, and The Lighthouse AG Church.
